Welcome to the UWAC laboratory.  This laboratory focuses on processes controlling the water and atmospheric circulations and land-atmosphere interactions with various regional factors. Data analysis and field observation are also conducted from the geographical point of view, and cross-cutting type project studies are encouraged.

Major research topics

1) Land-atmosphere interaction under Asian monsoon
Thermodynamic interaction processes over the complex terrains round Tibet/Himalayas are investigated.

2) Precipitation system over mountains and local circulations
Precipitation/convection processes over the large-scale mountains, controlling the water resources and causing natural disasters, are revealed from the point of meso-scale and synoptic scale interactions.

3) Effects of weather modification to snowcover environments
Effects of recent extreme weather patterns to snow cover environment and precipitation phase changes are studied.

4) Observation of solid precipitation amount and phase changes
Improvement of observation technics to measure snow fall amount and temporal changes of precipitation phase are conducted.

5) Observation of local climate at your place
We challenge to observe local climate with unique evidence at your place and own interests, that could not be captured by existing observation networks.

6) Data archive and field study integrations
Meteorological data in multiple institutes, universities, etc. are intensively archived and reformatted to proceed cross-cutting studies and utilized for different fields, such as conducted by CEOP, JALPS project.
